Just like that, 2016 delivers us right to the doorsteps of 2017. Behold, as we reflect on the past year. Some of us might cringe a little that this years resolution was last years goal. Whether you were ready or not to be thrust into the new year, the adrenaline is running high and we all feel the need to wake up and accomplish something and be successful in all areas of our life. I mean… who else is still trying to make last years resolution happen?
I’m not big on New Year resolutions. I’ve always felt that if you wanted to change something you should have started a long time ago, but the New Year is always a good place to start, if you’re going to start. Something about a new year changes the direction the wind sways, and the word ‘change’ lights up in our head like a light bulb and we all scramble to make resolutions. Well, what is a goal without a plan right? Here’s how you can stay on track this new year:
Have a plan
Having a plan is crucial to being successful. Be clear on what the goal is and knowing the steps to the goal is important to take note of.
Write down the steps you need, whether it be in a notepad, journal or somewhere in your phone, write it down so you have something to refer back to.
Stay persistent, and make each step to your goal a habit. Really put an effort into making each step you take count, because it’s the little things that make the end results.
Get yourself a planner, calendar, or notepad and write down your to-do list. Plan each day ahead so you’re not trying to do everything at once and feel overwhelmed. Declutter your thoughts and the area around you and get yourself into a fresh new start mode.
Be realistic with the goals you set. Taking one goal at a time so you have time to really develop in each area. I’m not saying don’t challenge yourself, but do it with a realistic approach so it’s not so big it seems unconquerable.
So cliche so say, but having a positive mindset can take you that much further ahead. It’s not always a smooth road and remembering to keep a positive vibe is healthy in staying on track with your goals and keeping the vision of your goal clear.
